Yes, I am thanking you…

Don’t worry, I am still talking about education; just taking a break for a moment to reflect.
So, for those of you who don’t know, I recently crossed 100 stories on Medium. Most of these were on the Professor’s Office Hours and 360-Deg Ministries brands. I’m sure more popular folks on Medium have done stuff like this, but that’s fine. So, here are some of my highlights from my Medium career.
- In the Spring of 2021, my now-wife Sherrell Writes convinced me to get on the platform.
- I began with my initial dive into the education system, The Lobotomy of the Postmodern Education, and was proud of this.
- I went on to build Office Hours and my ministry work, exposing years of work to a new audience. I was kind of proud of myself for the consistency.
- Then the slogging…oh the slogging. I kept reading stories of Medium folks hitting it big and I reached out to content writers for advice. It was pretty much the same: produce.
- That fall, I got into college admissions consultation, and Medium got put on the shelf.
- The following spring, I added two more jobs, and Medium went to the back of the shelf.
- Then, within the span of 60 days, I started a new job, shedded the other jobs, moved, got married, and returned to Medium.
Phew, I’m tired, boss!

So what have I learned?
- Writing is hard, even for someone with my experience in writing in general. Sure I can churn out stories (to an extent), but the quandary always comes down to, how can I compel people?
- Writing relationally is harder. I need to be able to advertise what I can do somewhere, right? Word of mouth is great, but people need to see it. They have to see me. But is my Medium account one big commercial? Is that what I really want? I’ve waffled back and forth on this for years.
- Spamming social media is a drag. I have over 12,000…
